One of my resolution is to read more in year 2007. I started the 'reading' with the book title 'The mind of the C.E.O' by Jeffrey E. Garden... Will have more books in time to come.
This entry is to jot down some meaningful statements/ sentences written/spoken by the book(s) i read. So, I shall start with the my very first book in year 2007...
The mind of the C.E.O - Jeffrey E. Garden
- How do you facilitate a decision in your client? > You need to focus all your work on making sure that once answer have been found, they will actually be implemented. You work with you client, not just for them.
- What exactly is VISION? > A vision needs to be an imaginative picture of where a company will be and why that positioning will be a transforming event not just for the company but for its customers and its other constituencies. A vision needs to be sufficiently broad and deep to rid above specific transactions.
- ... if you wait for a business model in place, you'll be the last guy in the marketplace... if we want to be a leader... we are going to have to make decisions with maybe 75% of the facts, if you wait for 95% you are going to be a follower... in the end you have to have the guts to make a decision.
- ... you have to accept you are wrong sometimes, but in the long run you'll suffer more from consistently delayed decisions.
- ... A bad decision on Monday is better than a good one on Friday...
- ... The best thing is to do the right thing, the next best is to do the wrong thing, and the worst thing is to do nothing...
- ... Execution requires extraordinary communication efforts...
- ... You need to be receptive to a wide range of questions yet maintain control of the message you want to deliver...
- ... You know this question about whether you are born with leadership skills or you learn them? I want them to believe that however you got it, if you practice and work on it, you can become better at it...
